What image format and compression type are you using with the tif file?

If you are using the same compression as the original, the only thing I can think of is that your are using a true color file with jpg compression. Currently you cannot set the jpg quality, so it is possible that you get a tiff larger than the original, if the original was saved with a lower quality. Version 2.01 will allow you to select the jpg quality within the tif file.
