Hi Amal,

I don't know much about character recognition. In the past I have tried a few OCR engines, and the neural nets did not seem to perform as well as pattern recognition types.

There are two ocr related newsgroups which you may get answer to your questions:

comp.ai.doc-analysis.ocr
