the youngest most untried junior does not "take over" from the retiring 400 gamer.

everyone moves up a rung.

In terms of who I think is going well in the 2's I reckon Macrae is a pretty good mid there, certainly plays at or above the level most weeks and I reckon once he settles into the senior side he will look better for it as the skills and intelligence around him will be better.

this year he is averaging 28 touches, 8 tackles, 5 clearances a game, those are god numbers.

I like the look of Jiath, and he might free up Quaynor as an example to rotate thru the guts, although I don't know if anyone is thinking in that direction.

I reckon Allan could be a player and could have a point of difference, still not sure if he settles on the wing or midfield proper.

Realistically the only midfielder who is actually out of contract at the end of this year is Pendles. And in case you haven't noticed its actually been a squeeze to fit him in, with him having to swallow his pride and rotate to half back to allow for Titich and Nick to get the main minutes there. Sidey plays wing, Titch is contracted for next year, Crisp has 2 years more, so we at most need a mid and a wing at the end of the year, IMO, Fin is the obvious one for the midfield, and I reckon Lipinski would be a good move to Sidebottoms wing, allowing McInnes to play Lippas role once McStay is back in the KPF post. There is nothing disingenuous or unrealistic about this fairly obvious plan.

The year after that when Titch pulls up stumps Allan may be ready, or we may have gotten a free agent, or drafted a fast starter, or Sullivan may have come on in leaps and bounds in an elite environment, or any number of things.

The year after that when Crisp goes, who knows, DeMattia, a trade, a draftee, 3 years is a bloody long time in footy.

Maynard Frampton Jiath
Quaynor Dean Noble

Cameron DeGoey Macrae
J.Daicos N.Daicos Lipinski

Shultz McStay McCreery
Hill Moore Harrison

Steene
McInnes
Allan
DeMattia
Parker

Just don't see what looks so alarming and terrible about the above side, which is just an example of the possible evolution, and it ignores all the drafting, trading, free agenting, rookying, mid seasoning, supplemental-ing we will do over the next 5 years, which is the period we are talking about after all.

2024:2025
Pendles - Macrae
Sidey - Allan
Howe - Dean
Hyphen - Jiath

2025:2026
Mitchell - Sullivan
Cox - Steene
Elliot - Harrison
Mihocek - Kreuger

2026:2027
Crisp - DeMattia

Past that point we are surely in the realm of wild speculation when our list will have about 20 different names on it anyway.

GO PIES!!!!!
