In slang terms.

Gone are the days when it meant being aware of and empathetic to social issues, used by African Americans.

Politics ruined the word and it's meaning just like it ruins damn near everything else!

It's just become another term used to describe being soft, relative to whatever the person saying it conceives as being harder back in the day.

I guess the questions I have for those people is, do they want to go back to living in caves? Or are they too much of a woke lefty snowflake for that?

Why is wanting to make life better, more inclusive and safer for everyone a bad thing? Is that what is truly "soft" or is being afraid of change and whinging about it soft?

It's amazing that some people would sooner support sexism, racism, bigotry, worse living conditions, etc. Than have to be mindful of what their words and actions may do to those around them - and make any adjustments to life as they know it.
Kids often come under fire for being "entitled" but there's just as many if not more adults out there thinking they are the center of the universe and their generation perfected everything, with no further change required.

Re. the fan. Clearly no malice in it and the punishment is excessive but it also needs to send a clear message to stop other people from doing it.
It's not hard to imagine scenarios where someone with much more sinister intentions makes contact with a player and things don't end so well.
Players are out there doing their job, they have a right to feel safe as the rest of us do at work.
