Subject: Allen …either 2nd gear is his max or he is one who might take time , like Long has
In reply to: Annabelle 's message, "Agree with these. Steene was effective when rested forward. His marking" on 01:40 27/04/25 Sun

Steene was rag dolled or no where near where the ball in early ruck contests . He did improve later and took a couple of marks up forward ( where we had an absolute surfeit of blokes keen to jump and mark ( Hune …? was one and another taller player who grabbed a few and kicked well) all competing in the same area with West and the resting ruck
These commentators ( maybe Mitch) knew heaps about these kids …eg it seemed several had played in the NT to further develop their footy and enhance their chances of being drafted.

There were two strong bodied smaller vfl listed players who kicked longish goals too . One from Old Carey Gramarians and one from Gippsland

Jaith really has something special but he largely went into smoke in the third Qtr
Did a couple of things late in the last

Harry D may have had a last half stint on ball where he had no option but to grab and dispose ….he looked slightly better and quicker on ball

Cox imposed himself in the second half and the ruck who rag dolled Steene found himself on the receiving end

Dean seemed to have been moved up to CHB because several times he ran with ball close to the attacking 50 . Given that he was seen as outstanding at VFL pre Pies and that he had maybe 1.5 seasons out with feet issues he might be more effective more up field . But is he mobile enough ?
