Hi, I'm willow. I don't know where Pheobe has been lately, but I think I can help you.
You can start working on ground training stuff, with longing and that sort of thing when they're yearlings, but most people don't suggest to start riding till they're at least two, preferably 2 1/2 to 3, and even then you want to go slow, as they're bones haven't develolped yet. if you're planning to jump, you want to wait till they're 4 or 5 years old, because it's pretty hard on their cannons (the skinny part of the leg below the knee or hock and above the fetlock joint) so you want to wait till they have had a chance to strengthen their legs. *smiles* I hope that was helpfull
