Essendon engaged in a large scale systematic injection programe designed to improve on field performance. That is a fact which is not contested.

If it wasn't Illegal it should have been. Whats more Essendon disregarded their duty of care to their players.

James Hird oversaw that and he should have been sacked.

I do feel for the players but they should have got whacked. The fact they haven't is a an indictment on the system. They are guilty of taking a lot of injections which could only be to improve performance.

The AFLPA, and the Player Agents, The Club Doctor, the Essendon Leadership group all failed their players. Really a player in professional sport facing high number of injections really should have consulted his agent, the ALFPA or the AFL.

Now the Drug Code/System had flaws. There has been a number of failures along the way.

The Entire System needs to rebuilt from the Ground up, and the AFL has all the power to do so . All substances adminstered to players should be cleared in advance, method, dosage, all substances should be registered, everything logged with the AFl. There should be an AFL approved list and vetting procedures for substances and treatments.

The AFL and Essendon did not face facts and clean house and stop such programs in the future. They may well be such large scale programs at other clubs. Here was a chance to stand up for their Players set a standard and may it unequivocal. As it is Essendon have effectively gotten away with it. A large scale substance injection program designed to improve on field performance. It it wasn't illegal it should have been. The Players have been found not guilty by insufficient evidence, I have no problem with them player, as I don't see them as the instigators of the system. The Essendon brains trust at the time should have gone, Dr Ried should have been deristered, and the Board resigned. As well as James Hird.

The Message is now "what ever it takes" the poor handling of this case by the Essendon FC and AFL have encouraged other clubs to do the same. For other young footballers to be abused by their clubs. It may well contribute to the death of a footballer in the future.

The Essendon Football Club engaged in systematic doping. They sought to gain an advantage on field. It may well have been legal and they have escaped sanctions. But morally they are Drug cheats who have abused the young footballers in their care.

Collingwood. Thomas and Keefe look gone for all money. There is no evidence or reasonable judgement that there was any systematic objections at collingwood. Follow the process but I think they will be sacked. Keefe I thought was limited . but thought Thomas could develop into a good B grade player. Supporting collingwood I have always taken a philosophical approach, it's like being crucified, it's slow and painful, and you have no control. I Hope my club *IS* better in this management of players but obviously I have no knowledge or control. It's possible that EVERYONE is doing it. or that Collingwood is.

You just dumping in with a bunch of emotional crap without addressing the real issues. Cheap piont sociring that might sound good if your stupid or drunk but really have a think about it.

DO you want all the clubs injecting their players with many substances all the time to gain an on field edge as long as it's "legal"? Defending the players I can understand. But the Essendon Leaders responsible should have been branded and ran out of town.

Morally the Essendon program was wrong, and remains so no matter what the Legal verdict.
