Sure the AFL hands out the initial bands but they are fairly set. There is an agreed framework that all this has to work within.

If the Essendon Players do NOT plead guilt - 2 years.
Plead guilty say they didnt know 50% discount if accepted-1 year
Plead guilty and co-operate fully possible 75% discount - 6months,

3 or more players convicted, Essendon will be up for club sanctions , loss of points, suspension from competition.

WADA will appeal any soft penalties and that will go to the international court of sports arbitration.
