I didn't want either Roughead or Franklin (or Deledio or Tambling). I wanted Griffen. First pick at least.

Judd was the prototype and it's been carried on since. 6'2 running machines and some weight/strength as a bonus on top of that. The cream in the cake is the disposal skills (Judd's killing weakness for mine that I just don't rate him as high as some others). That the Rough has turned out the best of the lot (again imo) is a bonus.

I say best as he can play but he's, like Tambling a great fella and he's so infectious of the mood of the side. Everyone loves a bit of Rough. :)

Franklin, simply amazing, dazzling, bewildering and incomparable to anyone before or since. A forward pocket goal thief. He reminds me of Bartlett except he's twice the height, not quite as quick off the mark but builds into a faster speed than KB could (though KB played closer to goal so he didn't need to keep acceleration all through his play). Kicks goals that fade back from the wrong side of what should be a natural arc.

Huge loss still to us as a player as we'd changed his role to better accommodate the team structure. The compensation joke we got does leave bitterness in the mouth for what Sleepy Hollow got for God jnr.

Off field, probably not the type of young bloke I'd have much to talk about with. Wouldn't worry him, doesn't worry me. Not Hawthorn's problem about any alleged allegedments (not a word but it should be) good or bad. Like your lot with the push-up King. Now there's a dunce. Actually through hard work turned himself into a good footballer to throw it away by hanging with blokes that have convictions and no allegations behind them. Cost him his career. And a bit of cult status he was gaining with your mob from an outsiders pov as well.

Lewis came to us under notice of a court date for carrying the cleaver, ax, some chopping instrument to a teens house party. He was the one meant to be the 'bad egg' no one wanted to touch. He's short odds to be next Captain. Growing up can happen with some of these blokes afterall.

So not gloating (over much). But Wallace was spouting off way to early way to often when he coached Richmond. Sure, good to spruce up the future. Hardwick is going to far imo the other way and under selling a culture of blame that I think he's slowly turning around. He might just get a very good team out of them yet. If he isn't knifed like so many others before him.

My lot. Hawthorn way. We though Ablett snr had the act cleaned up when he was signed in 87 to come back after finding God. Interesting discussion among Hawk supporters of the era how he'd have fitted in and where as well. Would loved to have grabbed the F/S rule if he'd managed the criteria though.

Then there's Billy Nicholls. A child of both sides and doing time now?

Kids when you draft them. Kids when you poach/trade them a lot of times still a few seasons later for homesick reasons or other ($$$) reasons.

Good luck keeping Dusty on a short chain. He's one I seriously think I could find a big headline, front page both the old big page and the little page papers one day. Even the great leader Hodge has had some Colac stories not been told (good or otherwise).

See you at Draft camp. :)
