I am disappointed that Dale seems to be leaving because his best football made us a much better side.

Sure he hardly played over the past two years, and on that basis will not be missed. It's on the basis that his ankle is now OK that he will be missed.

If he goes to the Scum, or the Hawks, many people will be unhappy, of course, if he plays well and stays fit.

I would remind them that most will be the very people who said he was less than conscientious about his rehab and that we should get rid of him. Can't have it both ways, although plenty will try to.

FWIW, I still believe he's a good kid, and I like him and his family.

I wish him the best wherever he ends up (except against the Pies). I also accept that other clubs can offer him much more than he is worth on our current list.

Given he's probably got another four years at the top - at best, and if he regains form - I suppose an extra $1m over that period is quite a lot to give up.

Much as I love Collingwood, I'm not 100% sure I would lightly give away a $ mill for the club.

Still - I can't play football, I only watch it.

I guess I could also remind people that loyalty in football is ALL one way.

Clubs hire and fire without compunction on the basis of what they believe is best for them.

And, many on Collingwood boards are venomous towards Heater and want him gone - at our instigation - when he bleeds black and white.

But when a player wants out, it's different.

They get all bewildered and hurt in the chest if a player does the same thing as the club does.
