Yes, in this celebrity obsessed culture people think they have some kind of ownership when they connect with a person's work.

I liked the Pumpkins early on, but later became quite annoyed with them, but I'll still throw on "Gish" once in a while. I'm not going to reject a musician completely because they put out subsequent albums I don't like. That's childish.
