Hello there,

I don't know if you have found the information that you were looking for. I just happened to see your query on the Heeley history website.

I attended St Mary's for many years as I was growing up. It still stands on Bramhall lane and has it's own simple website at http://to-lo.co.uk/churchtest/history/

It was built around 1925-1930 so it is entirely possible that your grandfather was buried there. The graveyard was apparently closed for burials in 1880.

At some point in time the graveyard was removed but the entrance path from the main gate and an area to the side has gravestones laid as paving. Your grandfather's grave may be one on them.

The church will probably also hold records of those buried there. You could enquire with the vicar as to how to obtain these.

I hope this was of some use...

Natalie.
