Subject: "MacSpike"- a verse ficlet for Spike inspired by JM

I was inspired to write something in verse for Spike after reading about James wanting to do MacBeth, and before I knew it I had "MacSpike", LOL (AKA "Toil and Trouble"). Anyway, it's become the prologue to a new virtual series I'll be officially premiering in January, but I have the entire "MacSpike" and a sneak peek of the series at the link below. So anyway, here's a little something...

TOIL AND TROUBLE - The Prologue in Verse

ACT I Scene 1
A deserted and dirty street in downtown Los Angeles. A light cold rain falls as three robed women stand under a streetlamp.

FIRST ROBED WOMAN
Shall we three sisters meet again soon
In rain, wind or ‘neath a shrouded moon?

SECOND ROBED WOMAN (consults her Palm Pilot)
Not today. I have Pilates at noon.

THIRD ROBED WOMAN
I see my therapist at three.

FIRST ROBED WOMAN
Being a weird sister’s not what it used to be.

SECOND ROBED WOMAN
Is it done?

FIRST ROBED WOMAN
Upon the morn
there was naught but bloodied torn
and broken heroes turned to dust.
Each consigned to the spirit realm.

THIRD ROBED WOMAN
But yet one lives to take the helm.

SECOND ROBED WOMAN
Look! He comes!

FIRST ROBED WOMAN
Hail, champion!

An exhausted rain-soaked and bloodied Spike staggers down the street toward them. He falls on his knees in front of them, barely able to stand.

AFTERLIFE

What is AFTERLIFE?

It’s not a Season Six or a Season Eight. It’s not Angel ReVamped or ReNewed.

The stories of Buffy and Angel converge as Angel and his team enter the spirit realm and encounter an ancient battle between the forces of light and shadow. In Rome, Buffy plays a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a powerful and ageless man as she mourns the loss of Angel and Spike. Those closest to Angel and Buffy join forces. The stakes are raised.

The stage is set with a “prologue” that’s, well, a little different. It’s followed by a sneak peek at the first chapter. I hope you’ll enjoy it and look forward to the premiere of AFTERLIFE.
