Episode 2x03 - "Cannonball"
Guest Starring Veggieburger, Gemma, Ginger Pig, with Simon, and Toothy.

In a hospital room, Wolfshrub is lying in bed, with various doctors and nurses standing around her [Editor's note: Or is it him? I'm so very confused]. Ginger Pig is asking her questions, and writing things down in a pad. Wolfshrub mentions that she really doesn't need any of this, she's feeling fine. Veggie checks a read-out on a machine, and says that she may not feel like she needs it, but her recovery astounded everyone. They have to be sure that there hasn't been any effects of the coma. Wolfshrub maintains that she feels fine, and GP comments that if all this hassle is bothering her, she can come back another time. Wolfshrub says that that would be nice, and GP gets up to leave. Veggie motions for the other people to leave too. She turns to Wolfshrub when they're alone, and says that her awakening caught everyone by surprise. Wolfshrub smiles, and says that they aren't the only ones caught off guard by this. Veggie says that everyone was resigning themselves to Shrub never coming back, and begins to tear up. Wolfshrub says that she understands, but that she's back now. Veggie wipes a tear away, and says that she'll be down the hall if she needs her. Veggie leaves, and after a second, SeaBoy pokes his head round the corner. He asks if this is a bad time, but Wolfshrub gestures him in. She leans in to kiss SeaBoy, but he pulls away. Wolfshrub asks what's wrong, but then gets it, answering her own question by saying that its because of her new form. SeaBoy says that given time, he's sure he'll be able to look past it. Wolfshrub lays back, telling him not to worry, it's an adjustment for both of them. SeaBoy looks at Wolfshrub for a moment, then asks her what it's like. Wolfshrub sighs, and says it's frightening. But amazing, nonetheless. She says that she still has Shrub's memories, but it's like they've been downloaded into him or something. She says it will take some getting used to, but that she's glad she's got the chance to get used to it.

At Morgain's, there's a pounding on the door. Morgain slowly comes to the door, clutching her head. When she opens it, she sees ABM and Dandy standing there. They demand to see Amber, but Morgain says she hasn't seen Amber since last night. Dandy says she knows Amber must have come home, as she ran away pretty quickly last night. ABM and Dandy barge their way into Morgain's house, and run upstairs to Amber's bedroom. When they open the door, they see that the bed hasn't been slept in. Morgain slowly catches up with them, and asks them what happened last night. Dandy turns to Morgain, and says that that is what they're here to find out. Just then, they hear a key in the front door, and they all rush down. As Amber opens the door, she sees the three of them standing there. She's just about to turn and run, when Dandy grabs her, and pulls her into the house.

Over at Gemma's restaurant, she sits at the bar, reviewing some designs. Suddenly, a hand clasps onto her shoulder, and she whirls round - to see Toothy and Simon standing in her restaurant. She asks them what they're doing here, and Toothy says that they're just checking in on their new investment. He peers over at the design in Gemma's hand, and says that she shouldn't have the colour scheme, it's too stand-offish. Gemma says that she'll have whichever colour scheme she likes. Simon has been wandering around, looking over the restaurant, when suddenly he stops. He says that Gemma should have some hanging beams, make it more traditional. Gemma says that she doesn't want a traditional feel, and Toothy puts his hand on hers, saying that what she wants doesn't matter. She walks away from him, and asks him why he's here. He tells her to sit down, she doesn't. Simon continues to look around in the background, as Toothy talks to Gemma. He says that until she pays them back, they own her, and the restaurant. He calmly lays his hands down on the counter, and tells her to reconsider the beams. He turns to Simon, and tells him that they're leaving. As they walk towards the backroom, Toothy tells Gemma that they'll be back tomorrow, to check on their investment. As they leave, Salty comes to the door. She stands outside, watching Toothy and Simon go, then she walks in. She asks Gemma what's going on, but Gemma dismisses it as just a technicality. She tells Salty that she settled on a design, and the two of them sit at the bar and talk it through.

At the hospital, SeaBoy and Wolfshrub are still in her room. Wolfshrub asks if anyone's heard from TomSmeagol since the scene up in the NICU, and SeaBoy says that they haven't. He says that he's surprised, TomSmeagol went through so much to bring this baby to life, it seems odd that he would then just leave it at the hospital. Wolfshrub says that she doesn't want to give TomSmeagol the chance to come back for it, and SeaBoy looks away. He reminds Wolfshrub that he didn't want to go through with it, but Wolfshrub shakes her head, saying that SeaBoy won't have to. She puts her hands on his shoulders, and says that she'll do it - it is her child, after all. Well, sort of. Just then, LB comes into the room. She screams at the sight of Wolfshrub, and rushes over, to give her a hug. SeaBoy moves himself out of the way, and mutters that he'll see Wolfshrub later - then he leaves. Inside the room, LB excitedly begins talking to Wolfshrub; outside, SeaBoy leans on the wall, collecting himself. He looks back into the room, and sees LB showing Wolfshrub her gunshot-wound. SeaBoy then walks off, down a corridor - signposted as the NICU.

Back at Morgain's house, the four of them are sitting in the living room. Morgain is swallowing some pills, and ABM watches her cautiously. Amber is curled up in the corner of the sofa, not talking. Dandy demands to know what is going on, but Amber continues to ignore her. Dandy gets up, and slaps up Amber. ABM leaps up, and holds Dandy back. He tells her that violence won't get them anywhere, and Dandy sits down again, fuming. ABM crouches down next to Amber, and says that they just want to know what's really going on. Amber looks at him, and says that it's just too stupid. ABM says that they won't think its stupid, but that if they're going to get rid of this bloke, they at least need to know why. Amber looks over at Dandy, then turns back to ABM. She says that the private investigator has been sent by a professor at her uni. She says that this professor suspected Amber of having an affair with her husband, and so is spying on both of them. ABM takes this all in, then gently asks Amber if she was having an affair. Amber looks at him, and rolls her eyes. She says that she can't believe he's asking her that, and gets up from the sofa. She goes and stands by the window, and ABM apologises. Dandy then points out, after a moment of silence, that Amber never denied the statement. ABM shoots Dandy a look, who shrugs, saying that it had to be said. Amber looks down, and says that she was having an affair. She turns round, jumping to her defense, saying that it was only twice, and that it wasn't going to happen again. ABM walks up to, and says that if this was all it was, then why is Amber so scared. Amber says that this professor has threatened her life, for real, and that she's scared that if she finds out that she really had slept with her husband, she'd go off the deep end. She pleads with ABM to help her, and collapses into his arms, crying. He comforts her, saying that of course they'll help.

Back at Gemma's restaurant, she and Salty are going over the colour scheme. Suddenly, Salty puts down her drink, and asks Gemma what Toothy was doing here. Gemma nervously asks what she's talking about, then tries to bring the conversation back to the colours. Salty halts her, saying that she saw Toothy, and Simon, here just before she arrived. She wants to know if Gemma's been making deals with them, which Gemma vehemently denies. Salty says that Gemma should be careful, Toothy and Simon are tricky customers. She says that she once was involved with Toothy, and it cost her. Gemma stands up, telling Salty that nothing's going on, and that she should butt out of business that doesn't concern her. Salty stands up too, saying that it does concern her, but that if thats the way Gemma feels about it, then she'll leave. She turns to leave, but Gemma pulls her back. She apologises, and says that nothing is going on with Toothy, for real. She just knows Simon from way back, that's all. Salty asks if that's the truth, and Gemma nods. They sit back down, in silence. After a moment, Gemma turns to Salty, and asks what happened with her and Toothy.

Back at Morgain's house, she, ABM and Dandy are standing in the kitchen talking. Morgain says that Amber seems really shaken up by everything that's happened. She asks ABM if they're still going to help her, and he confirms that they will. He doesn't have a plan as yet, but he's working on it. As they talk, Morgain reaches for her pill bottle. Dandy asks her if she's supposed to be taking another dose so soon after the last one, and Morgain says that it doesn't tell her not to. She throws the pills down her throat, and drinks from a bottle of water. ABM and Dandy watch her cautiously. She asks them what they're looking at, but before they can answer, she notices that the bottle is empty. She grabs her coat, and calls out to Amber that she's going to the pharmacy, and that she'll be back soon. Once the door slams, ABM goes in to the living room, and asks Amber how long Morgain's had that prescription. She shrugs, saying it's only been four days. ABM looks puzzled, but then goes back to Amber. He hugs her, saying that they'll sort something out. He says goodbye, and turns to Dandy, motioning her to go over to Amber. Dandy walks up, and awkwardly tries to apologise, but Amber cuts her off, telling her not to worry about it. Dandy hugs her, and then she and ABM leave. Once outside, ABM turns to her, and tells her he's got a plan.

At the hospital, SeaBoy is standing over an incubator, when Wolfshrub walks up behind her. She asks him how the baby is doing, and SeaBoy says that it's the same. Wolfshrub asks if SeaBoy has named it yet, but he doesn't answer. Wolfshrub asks him again, and SeaBoy turns to him. He asks her if this has to happen, why they can't just leave the baby alone. Wolfshrub reminds SeaBoy of the prophecy, of the importance of the baby to TomSmeagol and his cronies. They can't let that happen, not if they have a chance to stop it. He gently pushes SeaBoy to one side, and picks up the baby. She cradles it in her arms, watching as it plays with her fingers. She turns to SeaBoy, who isn't looking her in the eye. She starts to cry, as she reaches down to hold the baby's neck. Just then, a voice calls out from behind them - it's LB, running in, asking them what they're doing.

At the offices, ABM enters his office, followed by AngelX and Stormy. They say that they need to talk to him, about a gala event they're holding, for Whedon's send-off. ABM says that he doesn't have the time at the moment, as he sits behind his computer. AngeX sits opposite him, and Stormy sits down on his desk. He looks up at them, and repeats that he's busy. They tell him that he doesn't have a choice, he's only a minority shareholder, and that he has to realise that running The Boards takes a lot of hard work. ABM prints something off, and gets up to leave, ignoring the two women. AngelX stands, asking him where he's going. ABM turns, just as he opens the door, and says he's going to help a friend. Stormy swivels his chair around, and wonders why he's hacked into the DMV records. ABM walks across the hallway, into Dandy's office - she's adding final touches to her hair and make-up, and is dressed in a slinky black number. He hands her the paper, saying that he found out where Mr Camel's staying. She looks it over, and says that this motel is such a dive. He hands her a bottle of champagne, saying that it won't matter - all she has to do is sleep with him, not live there. Dandy takes the champagne, and says that that she can do. She grabs her keys, and kisses ABM. He wishes her luck, as she walks out. As ABM watches her leave, AngelX and Stormy watch from AngelX's office. Stormy remarks that they have to get them out of here, and AngelX says that she's working on something, not to worry.

Over at Morgain's house, she comes home from the pharmacy. She throws her coat on the rack, and calls out to Amber - there's no reply. She goes into the kitchen, and pours a glass of water. She takes the water, and the pills, and goes into her bedroom. Setting the bottle down on the dresser, she opens it up, and takes out two pills. She's just about to take them, when she catches sight of herself in the mirror. She looks at herself from the moment, then throws the pills to one side. She grabs the bottle containing the rest of the pills, and throws them across the room. She looks at herself in the mirror for a bit longer, then rushes over into the corner. Frantically, she starts to pick up the pills one by one, furiously trying to get them back into the bottle. Halfway through doing this, she stops, in tears, and slumps in the corner of the room, crying.

AngelX and Stormy try to dig up the dirt on Dandy's involvement in Shrub's attempted-murder - and come across a lucky break...

Wolfshrub makes a shocking decision about the baby, but who's that hiding out in the hospital basement? Whoever it is, they've got their own designs on the baby...

ABM's plan works like a charm, as Dandy's seducing techniques get Joe Camel to reveal everything - but it turns out that Amber wasn't telling the whole truth...

Morgain tries to ween herself off the pills, but is it too late for her?

And Gemma's involvement with Toothy takes a sour turn, but will it be enough for her to pull out of their arrangement?
