Why is Indonesia not fielding their beauty queens in the Miss Universe Beauth Pageant. Last year, a Miss Indonesia-Universe was crowned with no less than the Miss Universe titleholder then, Lara Dutta, as the guest of honor. But the winner was not sent to Miss Puerto Rico to compete for the Miss Universe 2001 title.

This year, another Miss Indonesia Universe was chosen, but again, she's not competing in the Miss Universe 2002 pageant. WHY? Is it because of your customs and traditions, and also your religious beliefs, Indonesia being a predominantly Muslim populated nation?

Can you explain, please. Thank you.

It would be much easier for us to get an access from government to follow beauty pageant competition if there is no swimsuit competition which is very unlikely to occur. Miss World pageant so far is not competing swimsuit competition during final night and this might open up a bit the opportunity for Indonesia to compete. However, situations in here is still labile and the government just keep corrupting the money and people are getting more suffer than ever. Please Pray for us, our situation may not as bad as middle east or israel yet they still can join the pageant. So please once again we need your support so one day there will be Miss Indonesia competing again in Beauty pageant. Thank you

I m glad that Indonesia�s government never lets any Indonesians participate in the Miss Universe Contest. I think if you want to show to all people in this world how smart and beautiful you are, you don�t have to be naked and wear those stupid swimming suits. I am telling you that intelligent people in this world are more impressed by what you think than what you wear. And for the Indonesian people who wish one day that Indonesia will participate in the Miss Universe Contest, it won�t happen and let them cry very loud. May Allah SWT blessing us. Amin.

The answer is because herein Indonesia we have an old fashioned government! If coz Indonesia is a moslem country.....the fact in here we've many hot tabloid and magazine with the sexy covergirls wear bikini!So....it's not coz we are a moslem country!
I'm a moslem too but I like to watch all Miss Pageants contest coz they are not just sexy but have 3B!Brain, Beauty and behaviour!
I'm sad I can't watch Miss Indonesia in international event!

What a poor indonesia,... i`m indonesian and i`m really sad whay we not allowed to join miss universe, miss world, etc,.. we got monetery crisis and many problems here, and the people think indonesian is sink on the ocean, i think, if we join the prestige the international competition the people all around the world still have a nice opinion about aour country.we still survive!! be a miss universe is not easy, they have a great talent,.... what a poor indonesia government, we have many hot things here, HOT MAGAZINE THEY ALMOST NAKed,...

turky,malaysia,..they r moslem country but the government think a positive one, i really dissapointed!!
i hope in the future the government think the nice one,...

Hi.....I agree with u.Just look Malayasia,Turkey,n Egypt!!!They compete at Miss universe etc,they r moslem,but they have a positive thinking.Kapan dong Indonesia maju,kalo nggak bisa berpikir positif?Indonesia kan negara demokrat,mana buktinya.Toh pada saat kontes,yg dilihat kan keluwesannya,toh dibalik semua itu akhirnya juga menuju pada gerakan sosial.So.I really hope that the government allow that contest!!!
