Subject: DC,Annapolis,Balto Area Dog Events-May '03 & late April

There's no excuse to let your dog sit home in late April & May, a ton of things going on. Notable are the 5/18 Walk at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis which is well worth attending, the 5/3 Strut/Fiesta in Reston sounds like quite a bash, and several wine tastings (with dogs) cater to your more contemplative side.

They'll be a Newf Romp n' Swim (possibly on Sat 5/25) details to be sent later.

Sat 4/26 10am-5pm, ANNAPOLIS, MD: Dogs are welcome at Earth Day http://web.aacpl.lib.md.us/rp/parks/QuietWaters/programs/earth_day.htm at Quiet Waters Park. Lots of activities going on and free park admission. If you haven't already been there, take the opportunity to check out the fenced, off-leash Dog Park and nearby Dog Beach and maybe offer to help out with the improvements being made that day.

Sun 5/18 8am- 12N, ANNAPOLIS, MD: Walk For The Animals hosted by the Anne Arundel Co. SPCA http://www.aacspca.org/walk/ . This is another BIG one, dogs as far as the eye can see. Booths, vendors, freebies etc. As usual, you don't actually have to register and walk; you can just wander around and enjoy the festivities. The bonus is the Dog Beach and fully fenced Dog Park also located at the Quiet Waters Park site.

All dogs are invited to the many fun events (and picnic the night before) although some have special categories for the host breed. Lure coursing for Bassets should be a hoot!

RECURRING EVENTS:

Every Tu and Th 5-8 pm ALEXANDRIA, VA: Yappy Hour/Doggie Happy Hour http://doggiehappyhour.com . Held on a spacious enclosed outdoor terrace every Tues and Thurs from 5-8pm (often runs later) from April through Oct, this is a remakable combination of Happy Hour and happy dogs. Free and cheap snacks (ie, all-you-can-eat wings $1.95, shrimp $4.95) and a farm wagon piled high with dog yummies combine with booze to make this a memorable social outing for people and canines alike. Dress ranges from cut-offs and a Tshirt to business attire and street parking can be easily found.
