Subject: Nov '06 DC/Balto/Annapolis Area Dog Events

Dog Events returns after a five month hiatus necessitated by my spine surgery from which I'm recovering slowly but surely.

A NEWF ROMP n' SWIM on Sunday 11/5 at 1pm and the shopping opportunities of the Turkey Cluster of dog shows after Thanksgiving are the highlights of the month, at least for me. Those of you with Newfs, don't forget the Williamsburg, VA Christmas parade & CNC draft test combo on the first weekend in December, details below.

Also, if anyone is interested in the 5 m/o brown Newfie boy who's looking for a home, you can meet him at the Romp.

Sat 11/4/06 11am- 5pm ANNAPOLIS/EASTPORT,MD: The 9th Annual Slaughter Across the Water Tug of War http://themre.org/tug2006/index.htm between Annapolis (Susan Campbell park at the end of the city dock) & Eastport (2nd St by the Charthouse Restaurant) provides a unique reason for a rowdy street fest, mostly on the Eastport side. Food, drinks, music and dogs invited.

Sat 11/4 11am- 4pm RESTON, VA: Home 4 the Holidays super adoption event
http://gooddogz.org/events/h4th06.html includes vendors etc.

Sat 11/4 5- 7pm SPRINGFIELD, VA: Late Halloween Party at Just Fur Pets http://www.justfurpets.com/1473557.html .

Sun 11/5 1pm PASADENA,MD: NEWF ROMP n' SWIM at Downs Park http://www.aacounty.org/RecParks/Parks/downs_park/index.cfm .Meet at 1pm at the Dog Beach (NOT the Main Beach) at the northeast corner of beautiful Downs Park , 8311 John Downs Loop, Pasadena, MD 21122. Everything is close by and an easy walk from plentiful parking. The last parking lot on the right is the closest and you'll walk towards the bay, taking a left on the paved trail that runs along it. Just after the trail takes a 90 degree turn to the left are the semi-hidden stairs down to the dog beach where you'll find Newfie paradise. Weather is predicted to be sunny and in the low 50's.

Fri 11/10 7- 11pm SILVER SPRING, MD: Dances With Dogs hosted by the Montgomery County Humane Society http://www.mchumane.org/dance/ gives you an opportunity to attend a dinner dance & auction with your dog for a mere $100. Note that the dinner is all vegetarian. It doesn't mention anything about enough booze being available to make you forget about that.
