Have just stumbled across your site. Blimey, football supporters in Barnstaple who don't follow Man U etc.Good on you boys. I'm an Oxford supporter who visits Barum a couple of times a year cos that's where the in laws live so while I can wish you luck for the rest of the season that does not apply to Saturday. I've never seen the slightest hint of a Torquay shirt in Barnstaple or even an Exeter one for that matter. Where do you Barnstaple Gulls hide away and do your drinking ? The Check Inn ?- West Brom supporting landlord. Reform Inn ? - Magnificent beer.

Cheers

Well Thin Bloke, we tend to hide away at places like the Barn, Sherrys Tavern (top barmaid), and some of our less discerning members (music-wise) do tend to strut their stuff in Chicago Rock.

Are you coming down for the game on Saturday? You had a good win last Saturday and seem to have picked up since Mark Wright got the sack, BUT we're on a roll! One game undefeated, and not even a goal conceded! WATCH OUT DIVISION 3 NOW!

Dave.

P.S. There is a Barnstaple Grecian, but as you can tell it's not a group as there is only one! And we're working on trying to convert him to the mighty Yellows (not Oxford.)

Yes, I will be there on Saturday. Bus leaving Oxford at 9 o'clock ish so should arrive in decent time. Any good pubs near the ground that are away fan friendly?

Yes, things have looked much better since Ian Atkins replaced MW, well at home anyway. Our only away performance under IA was a 3-0 defeat at Hull. We won our first corner at 10 to 5. I'm hoping for something rather better on Saturday.

Cheers

Well thanks for your posting Thin Bloke. Great to hear from visitors to our wonderful area.

As Dave mentioned, our favourite drinking places have to be: The Old Barn Inn (Bickington, which is where many BGs are based). Further in town we tend to visit Shamus O'Donnells, The Queens Head, Cork and Bottle whilst finishing in The Chicago Rock.

A top night can always be had in Barnstaple! Why not look us up when you are next visiting, it would certainly prove an interesting excuse to get away from the out-laws.

Are you visiting the home of football (Plainmoor) this Saturday?

Cheers,
A fat bloke

I think all the pubs near the ground are fan friendly. Boots and Laces, which is actually part of the ground, has just been refurbed, but if you want to meet up then we are going to be in The Union before the match. It's just down from the ground, near the Plainmoor shops. (We're trying a different pub each game at the minute to try and change the team's luck - at this rate we'll soon be drinking in Newton Abbot before the game!) For more info, check out the Road to Plainmoor on this site.

Hope to see you on Saturday.
