I actually posted a similar message yesterday but it somehow got buried. My take below, somewhat different from yours.
------------------------------------
My take on the weekend's games;

BW team of the week: Pacific. Win their opener against Santa Clara in Santa Clara. SC finished third last year in the WCC and is picked to finish third again this year.

BW Dog of the week: CSUN. Lose by ten, 85-75, at home to a lightly regarded Nevada of the WAC. From how their fans had been talking, I expected more. I do expect a few more bumps in the road early on for Coach Braswell and his young pups but given the skills of Coach B and the talent level of his new players, I also expect the Matadors to make a lot of noise later in the season.

Runner-up Dog of the week: UCSB. Won 51-42 over NAIA Westmont in a game closer than the score suggests. Still a W but if the Gauchos are to acheive the goals they have for themselves this season, they are going to have start playing well much earlier than they have in seasons past.

Other games:
Long Beach wins two of three in the Oregon tournament, winning big against the lesser teams, W. Michigan & Alabama St but getting blown out by Oregon, 97-67. The Ducks are picked to finish in the bottom half of the Pac 10 so I was hoping the Beach would at least keep it close; then again, Oregon is one of the toughest places to play in the country.

USU wins big! Then again, they beat Montana St, big deal.

UCR played Portland tight in Portland, losing 75-67. Not a bad showing, I've heard that the Pilot's new coach, ex-UCLA Bruin Michael Holton, was able to recruit some decent talent.

Fullerton lost on the road to Pepperdine, 75-58. No surprise there.
