Subject: What is the best material to plant my cactus in?
In reply to: Cena 's message, "Re: and now a request for plant information!" on 23:14:43 12/10/01 Mon

I know this is a foolish question to ask, BUT, what material should I plant a newly purchased cactus in ? You see, recently, my Daughter wanted to purchase a small cactus for her room.........only problem is that when we had already purchased it, we were told that the company in which we purchased this cactus, had no "potting soil" or material we might purchase to plant it in ! I have tried to locate ANYONE that might have an idea or suggestions as to what we might use when we transfer it to a larger planter, but here in Oregon........no avail. Since we live on the Oregon coast, there really aren't too many places we might "find" the correct material in which this cactus will survive. Does anyone have an idea ?
Also, we are in the dark as to how often we should water this plant..........how often ? For now, the cactus is planted in a small (4") plastic pot and I'd like to give it some growing room. Does it take time for the plant to acclimate to our indoor enviroment and should we replant it soon ?
PLEASE.............any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.
