 新疆巴楚、伽師地區昨天發生6.8級地震後，今晨又發生四次餘震，最強一次達5.4級，地震死亡人數增至266人。
新疆維吾爾自治區民政部稱，中於有重傷者不治，目前災區死亡人數已增至266人，當中沒有外國人或港澳台人士，中度以上受傷人數已超過4000人，房屋倒塌27243間，教室900餘間，牲畜死亡12172頭，災區水利等基礎設施也遭到嚴重破壞。
