Subject: 2022 realignment is complete (I think)

Unless I've forgotten or overlooked something, or there have been some last-minute changes I didn't hear about, the various conference pages should now reflect alignment for the 2022 season. Since there are a couple of new conferences you may have to refresh or reload that panel along the left side of the website to get the new conference names to appear.

By the way - regarding the functionality of the website - the basic html code for this was written waaaaaayyyy back in 1999 and 2000 and, as an html frames website, it's very obsolete by today's standards. However it seems to mostly still be working with the various machines I use, other than that I can't scroll downward on just the index on an IOS machine (I have to scroll the entire page downward to get to the lower parts of the index). I'm probably not going to bother re-doing all of this unless it simply becomes dysfunctional in multiple browsers, due to the time it would take to both learn how to re-do everything (perhaps there's some way to automate the process?) and actually do it, and due to the fact that I'd much rather work on the content, which is far more interesting to me at present.

I hate to bring it up, but Murray State will be in the OVC for 2022, moving to the MVFC for 2023.

The historical helmets for Southern Utah are gone.

[> A surprising 2024 realignment -- No name, 17:03:39 07/02/22 Sat (76.227.134.33)

I know this is not related to the 2022 realignments, but I'll leave this here for the sheer ludicrousness of what happened a couple of days ago: the Big Ten will accept UCLA & USC as new members in 2024.

https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/30/sport/usc-ucla-big-ten-spt/index.html

What happened to regionalism? Why is the NCAA realignment mess so monetary-driven? What other dominoes are going to fall before the divisions become stable again? Will the Big Ten rename itself the Big Tent?!

Yes, that seemed to really fall out of the blue and I don't quite understand it, either. Are we headed towards having two or three superconferences with 18-24 teams each? What's the appeal of that? Are fans of say, Iowa, going to enjoy playing UCLA every year but Ohio State or Michigan just once every 3 to 6 years? Geography seems almost completely irrelevant now.

At this point it wouldn't surprise me much at all to read tomorrow something like "Miami, Florida State, and Clemson announce move to Southeastern Conference", or "ACC and Big 12 announce merger". Presumably somebody has calculated that there's more money to be made this way.
