Valparaiso's football team is unusual in that they've used an institutional logo for several years on their helmets rather than an athletic logo, so it's possible that the helmet design will not change despite the nickname change. The only new logo I saw yesterday (the circular logo with a lighthouse and the school name) would be somewhat too detailed to look good on a football helmet (thought that's not stopped many other teams previously from using something similar).

There are a lot of fantastic institutional logos that I think would look good on football helmets, and if we must continue to have a plethora of alternate designs I wouldn't mind seeing some of these used occasionally. Here are a few that I like:
