As a VU alumnus, I express grateful thanks to Jack Mehl for his effort to write a letter to the Valpo Times. From all accounts, our outgoing AD certainly is a class act and an extremely reliable individual. He has impressed anyone who has met him as a total gentleman.
My only gripe, and most of you know it well, has been a limited vision for marketing and ticket promotions. Given the fact that he did back the United Center idea and saw it through, even that criticism has to be tempered with fact he stood with the big guarantee when it could have flopped. At this point, it would be foolish to dwell on one weakness among numerous and well-documented strengths. Maybe he's never been given enough budget.
Credit given where credit is due.
