I think your post makes a lot of sense.

Everybody in the Mid-Con (other than Western) has shown flashes of ability to win the Conf. tournament.

IUPUI has shown that ability more often though and they really did take Valpo apart at the ARC. Their shooting really ran cold for a while though in mid-year. One bad shooting game and they're out.
