Until this year Chicago State was everybody’s favorite patsy.

Now the Cougars are talking about winning the Mid-Continent Conference tournament and going to the NCAA.

What’s more they’re being taken seriously, having come within eight points of a five-way slice of their first regular-season championship.

The 6-7, 240-pound Tulsa native averaged 27.0 points and 15.5 rebounds in two games last week, a 71-68 loss at Centenary and an 84-73 win over Southern Utah. He shot 70.0 percent (16-of-23) from the field and also converted 22-of-28 from the free throw line for the week.
