I don't usually enter these because I suck at them, LOL, but here's an entry for you anyway.

I joined the circus, yeah, me, I.
T'was the only job I could find.
I wanted instead to be a nurse,
No training stopped that of course.
The elephants paraded while the monkeys laughed.
They thought it to be funny, especially since I wear this big hat.
I searched for what I could not find,
A nurses job? Am I out of my mind?
The lion came over and asked what I had done.
I told him, Using a marker, I circled ads in the classifieds.
My gosh, you missed your act, we thought you had died, he said back.
I told him, I am here and am scared of the tight rope,
So will I be back out? Nope, nope, nope.
