I wrote this poem in honor of my late and cherished friend, Jewels...
~Jewels~
I hear the murmur of my name carried on the wind.
A glimmer ripple of the light, a sigh within the air--
My eyes rise to the skies and there sits, Jewels, my friend,
Reclining on a silver cloud, sun breathing in her hair.
My soul is astonished at such a sobering sight!
Alarm seizes my mind – prickling needles with pins...
Her aura permeates fear from such a soaring height,
Quelling the anxiety crawling through my skin.
“Mari Mari,” rests my name on the crown of her sigh.
“You tell me your dreams, so to you, my heart, I give,
With loyalty and honor, whose esteem you hold high,
With hopes a spiritual faith is the way you choose to live.
“Life is not a Valentine letter to give out once a year.
Life rests within eternity, which is the God above.
Who offers lessons of faith, with courage to face your fear.
Teaching about striving to build houses full of love.”
“Mari Mari,” comes my name, my heart yearns to believe.
My eyes rise to the skies as Jewels spreads her wings.
“I want to share another truth before I take my leave:
Yet in the evening of your life God can teach your soul to sing.”
I watch my friend begin to rise above her silver cloud.
An aura of holiness consuming human rules
Fluttered down, embraced my soul like a godly shroud.
Her name, sweet, upon my lips, transformed my heart to jewels.
