The first six lines were written in Thayre the summer of 1998. I remember it perfectly. I was literally sitting on a curb in the middle of town on a road (that some would say goes "nowhere" now[it passes through a near ghost town]) It was really hot, so hot, we closed the carnival down for a few hours. It was basically the ending of a really bad day and I was remembering what it was like being in that same town a year before.

In fact, the year before, I had written a short little ditty that ended, "A year from now, who will be walking in my place?" and I was stunned to learn the answer was myself!
