The memory still lives, as clear as a bell,
My plunge as a kid into pure dental-hell!
A tale not for timid, let weak souls be warned,
Painless dentists? Surely, a term to be scorned!
His shingle made promise, a dentist so gentle,
Loves children, so absent, from any anguish mental.
So mom, with kisses, led me to that room,
I shook! I shivered! He smiled -- I saw DOOM!!
Mom faded away, I was left in that chair,
He circled around me..."Hey! What's he got there?!"
From behind his white cloak, slick as could be,
Flashed a Godzilla-size needle, big as a tree!
My little form lifted, by the tip of that sword,
Stuck in my gum, my screams sailed roof-ward!!
My pipe-cleaner arms, normally weak as a lamb,
Snapped sides from my chair, no kidding! HOT DAMN!!
That dentist, "so gentle", clamped hands on my chin,
Cussed fire and brimstone, his patience worn thin!
That ogre overwhelmed me, his work did conclude,
He turned on his smile, my mom to delude.
Try as I would, on that fateful ride back,
My story unfolding, no words did I lack...
But alas, clueless mother, you weren't meant to hear,
My numb lips, like pillows, dripped sounds so unclear!
