Welcome to The Family Historian Traders' Board. My name is Megan, and I am the forum owner of this board. It is part of a resource center which is located at Megan's MemoryBooks & More.

We also have message boards for scrapbooking and genealogy. If you have questions, comments, tips or ideas about either of these things, please use the links above to post your messages to the appropriate board.

For those of you who are new to trading, please read the following suggestions:

Whenever trading with someone you do not know, it is best to ask for references BEFORE the trade and to check those references. Most experienced traders will have a "feedback" page where you can read comments from others that they've traded with before.

If you are new to trading and do not have references, please be willing to send your end of the trade first (after you have checked the other person's references). Once the trade is completed, you may ask the person you've traded with to provide references for you for future trades.

Once you have made a few trades, you will probably want to obtain your own feedback page. These are available through a1-traders.com and similar sites.

When listing your trade items, please list a TV "trade value" with each item. A trade value is what you think the item is worth. Setting the trade value is pretty much up to you. Most folks will trade at retail value, or for what they paid for an item, if it is new. If the item is used, you may adjust the TV accordingly. Some traders set their TVs very low if they really want to get the stuff out of their house!

Also in your post, please list the items that you are looking for. This cuts down on queries and helps people who have what you're looking for to find you :-)

Once a trade has been completed, please be courteous enough to post a thank you for the person you traded with. We all appreciate positive recognition :-)

As for problems with a trade, you may ask for advice on how to resolve them from other members of the board, but DO NOT name names. You are ultimately responsible for your own trades...that is why I recommend doing your homework first! Only proceed with a trade after you are satisfied with the other person's references.

I hope that answers your questions....happy scrappin' and tradin'!
Megan
