>Is it Labor Day yet????>>>>>> EVERY day is Labor day.. I labor 5 days a week...5 hours a day. (62 yr old partial "retirement") I sit in air conditioning/heat (paid for by others) ,click a mouse for commercial matter, Play whatever I please on a lil' ol' pissant 1000 watt radio station working for the best folks I've worked with or for since 1965. I cough up the time and temp occasionally, read newscasts(on the air..or is that IN the air?),the newspaper comics (NOT on the "air") (Arlo and Janis have been reading our mail). I have cable tv and a remote in front of me and my biggest neurosis is Lysol spraying the microphone and the telephone. Sometimes I have explained weather for our caller who is harelipped and very weather paranoid, but we have learned her "native tounge". Otherwise, I put her on "hold" and transfer to anyone else who knows what the hell she's saying. Fortunately we all understand the lingo.. It's not because of the speech impediment... She's just a "goof" when it comes to retaining info and her husband is shouting instructions and questions in the background. I slave over a hot microphone every day, give the info, yet, in times of "crisis", it seems that no one has a radio, and they ALL have at least three telephones. We labor our assses off, attempting to inform and reassure total knotheads. The karma should be interesting. There is NO satisfactory DJ union, but I don't mind. Early in life, (after working hiway construction for T.L. James const.co out of Ruston, La, And a stint in a furniture factory mill, a warehouse job and Several other oddball jobs such as an attack dog trainer, a grave digger in a pet cemetery, tv news photographer and a variety of other labors, I'm 'bout "labored out". Went back to the DJ gig because it felt a lot like being paid to "stay out of the way"... Great job...Sorry wages, but at least I'm live and not a sattelite feed. I'm Broke but satisfied and happy with my many other blessings and as long as "Cindy" or "Dennis" doesn't blow or float Pot's 58' Chevy up here (90 miles inland), I plan to celebrate "Labor Day" by Bobby-Q-ing Jimmy Hoffa sausage and AFL/CIO stew on the side. Maybe a socialistic salad on the side.. (.)(.)
