Words failed them,
and threatened
to subside
the essence of
every day,
of every
uttered word
that passed
between the two,
the silence failing
to revoke or heal
the rift that
was to become
an ever increasing
chasm, a soundless
void, a hushed
reminder of what
was a debatable
conversation.
