Yes, the Libero is officially in. At the UCSB spring tourney last Saturday, some teams were already using the position, including UCSB. Others were not such as Pepperdine. Libero cannout make any offensive moves, (set, attack, block, serve.) The Libero is allowed to send the ball over the net but only underhand. Only one player per MATCH can be designated and she must stay the Libero the whole match. The libero can be freely subed in and out which gives the coach much more flexability in substitutions. That's what I learned last weekend, it should be interesting. (It looks like Brooke Niles will be the Gaucho Libero.)
