First let me say that I think Murrell is one of the best coaches in the BW and like the article said a raising star in the coaching ranks.

But even if they extend Murrell's contract, I wouldn't look for her to stay at UOP much longer. She's a bright, young, up and coming coach. With her success at UOP other schools will take notice and hire her away.




I like what she said about the rest of the BW schools improving their basketball. It's terrible a school like UCR in their first season of D-1 finishing tied for second. Not knocking UCR and what they did, but that was more a reflection of how bad the BW is than how good UCR is.

Schools have to hire better coaches, recruit better athletes, make more of a committment to WBB. If that doesn't happen, good young coaches (like Murrell) will leave the BW for better jobs the first chance they get or good young coaches will not want to come to coach in the BW.

Hope Murrell stays at UOP since it's good for UOP and the BW. But I got a feeling she may not be the coach at UOP when practice starts in Oct.
