Subject: Johnson Jumps Delta Team

I was at the Delta-American River game on Tuesday night and wondered why Johnson was sitting on the bench. Apparently his one-game suspension didn't sit too well with him. This doesn't help him in trying to get a Division I scholarship. Hope he already has a deal. By the way, ARC forward David Palmer has committed to Southern Utah State. Here's an out-take on Johnson's situation from the Stockton Record.



The Delta College men's basketball team will have to go the rest of the season without its
leading scorer.

Mustangs coach Brian Katz said on Thursday that sophomore forward Bobby Johnson has not
practiced with or been in contact with the Mustangs since Tuesday and is off the team. Delta
plays host to Sierra College at 8 p.m. today at Joe Blanchard Gymnasium.

Johnson and Harry Davis served a one game suspension for breaking a team rule and sat out
Tuesday's 62-60 loss to American River. Katz would not specify why he suspended the
players, but he said both were at the game. Davis has returned to practice and will play today.

Katz said he has not seen Johnson since the team returned to Stockton on Tuesday.

''I have not seen or heard from Bobby since Tuesday night. As a result, he is no longer a
member of our team,'' Katz said. ''I wish Bobby success in all his future endeavors.''
