Subject: Chill Electrocuted in Game 1

The Chicago Thunder stormed into Rochester and upset the top-seeded Minnesota Chill in Game 1 of the USPV Finals. Chicago won 3-1 (14-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-18). The Thunder improved to 13-8 on the year, while the Chill fell to 13-9.

Chicago was led by USPV scoring champ Kristee Porter, who got 11.5 pts on 8 kills and 3.5 blocks and chipped in a dozen digs to boot. Also doing well for the Thunder were Makare Wilson [8 kills, 3.5 aces(?), 11.5 pts, 13 digs] and Terri Zemaitis-Boumans (5 kills, 5 aces, 10 pts, 5 digs).

Wiz Bachman led the way in a losing effort for Minnesota with 10 kills, 3 aces, and 1 block for 14 pts and a pair of digs. She was helped by the immortal Addie Mahnken, who had 12 digs and even got a kill. Addie must have moved to middle blocker from her customary libero position, since liberos are not allowed to attack.

This marks only the third time this season that the Chill have lost at home. All have come at the hands of the Thunder.

Game 2 will be held in Rochester tomorrow night at 7. Hopefully, the Chill will force extra matches.

GO CHILL!!! GO TIGERS!!! GO ADDIE!!!
