Subject: Joines joins USA Volleyball program

Tigers volleyball player honored

The Record

University of the Pacific volleyball standout Jennifer Joines was one of 20 players nationwide selected to the USA Volleyball A2 Program.

The National A2 Program provides collegiate athletes an opportunity to prepare for possible future involvement with the U.S. National Team.

Joines, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker, will be part of the elite, eight-member Phase I aspect of the program, which will train with the U.S. Women's National Team at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs from May 19 to June 24. There is a chance some of the athletes might be invited to remain a part of future National Team programs and compete with Team USA at the 2002 World Championships in Germany August 30-Sept. 15.

Joines was in the A2 program last summer, then earned All-Big West, All-District and All-American honors for the second time after leading the Tigers to the NCAA Regionals.
