PACIFIC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL SIGNS ONE
DURING THE LATE SIGNING PERIOD

STOCKTON, CALIF. --- University of the Pacific Head Women’s Basketball Coach Craig Jackson announced today the signing of a second player for the 2002-03 basketball season. The Tigers signed Emily Osina to a letter of intent on Friday, May 10.

Osina, is a 6-1 forward from Weatherford, Texas, who graduated from Brock High School where she was an All-State Class 1-A player as a senior. She was a McDonald’s All-American nominee in her senior season and a Street and Smith Honorable Mention All-American heading into her junior season. Osina was also named to the TGCA (Texas Girls Coaches Association) All-Star Team and was also named to the All-State team by the TSWA (Texas Sports Writers Association) and Texas Basketball Magazine. She averaged 12.9 ppg and 9.0 rpg to help lead her team to the 1A State Championship and the Texas Cup Championship.

In the summer she was a member of the 18 and under BCI National Championship Team. Osina’s AAU team also went to the Final Four of the National Championship in 2000 and 2001. Osina was also the District’s "Blocker of the Year" in volleyball and holds the school record for the discus throw.

She will be the first Pacific Tiger to hail from Lonestar State since Krystal Hilton and Shannon Reed played for the Tigers in the 1993-94 season.

"Emily has a very nice back to the basket game, to go with a solid face-up skills," said Jackson. "We are excited to have a player of her caliber join our program, and we look forward to the contributions she will make."

Osina joins Sara Feeley, who was signed in the early recruiting period, as part of the 2002-03 Tiger recruiting class.
