PACIFIC HIRES MILENA FLORES AS ASSISTANT COACH

STOCKTON, CALIF. --- University of the Pacific Head Women’s Basketball Coach Craig Jackson announced today the addition of Milena Flores as an assistant coach to the women’s basketball coaching staff.

Flores, was a standout for the Stanford Cardinal women’s basketball team from 1996-2000 and was named First-Team Pac-10 in her junior and senior seasons. She was the team captain in her senior season and played in every game of her career in her four years at Stanford. Flores also helped the Cardinal advance to the Final Four in 1997.

She was also a District VIII All-Academic and Pac-10 All-Academic player for Stanford. Flores finished third on the Cardinal all-time career assist list, fifth on the Pac-10 career assist list, and was the first player in Pac-10 women’s basketball history to lead the conference in assists in three straight seasons.

After graduating from Stanford, Flores played for the Miami Sol of the WNBA in 2000 and 2001. She played in every game for the Sol in her rookie season in 2000. Flores played for Lietuvos Telekomas in the Euroleague in Lithuania during the 2001 and 2002 seasons. She was the starting point guard on Lietuvos Telekomas when it won the Lithuanian National Championship.

Flores was also a camp instructor for Tara VanDerveer’s basketball camps in 1997 through 1999. She lectured high school girls and provided individual instruction for the campers. From 1998 to 2000 she was a mentor for the Shoot for the Stars program designed to empower and instill the desire for a college education to fifth to eighth grad girls.

"I am very excited to have someone of Coach Flores’ caliber on our coaching staff" said Jackson. "She brings a tremendous work ethic coupled with an outstanding playing career both at the collegiate level and professionally."

"I am happy that Coach Jackson and Pacific gave me the opportunity to begin my coaching career," said Flores. "I am looking forward to passing on all that I have learned and too in turn continue to gain knowledge from such a wonderful staff."
