I had a friend who suffered from ulcerative colitis and he took the following recommended herbal and nutritional products from a lady I found on another health board.

Aloe Vision Health Drink - Aloe Vera Juice
Enzyme Essentials
Flora for life
Silver Hydrosol - a better type of colloidal silver
Bio MSM plus - MSM
Coral Calcium

Here is her directions.

For ulcerative colitis and irritable bowel, I would say Aloe Vision - for however many bottles it takes to cool it down. It is made with the whole aloe, not just the juice, so it has a greater concentration of nutrients.
It will help soothe and heal.

Enzyme Essentials are important to help the stomach digest the food properly,
and
Flora for Life to restore the bacterial balance in the colon. The nutrients from the digested food is
extracted in the colon, so it is important to have the right bacteria present. Flora promotes the good bacteria.

Silver Hydrosol will kill any foreign bacteria and help the inflamed area heal quicker. It can tell the difference between outside bacteria and the bacteria you are supposed
to have in your colon.

Along with that, MSM and Coral Calcium to help recover and maintain afterwards. They should continue to take Enzymes and Flora as well. MSM helps heal inflamed tissue and returns scarred tissue to normal tissue, working at the DNA level to help the body produce healthy cells from damaged cells. It also puts a teflon-like coating on the intestines to prevent bacteria and parasites from attaching. I can't begin to tell you all the things MSM does. It is essential for life. Without it, you die.

He did the above for 3 months, and stayed on the Aloe Vision Health Drink and Flora for Life, and he is fine now.
He has not had a bout for 10 months.
