... continuing the "Perfect Storm" scenario whereby that maximizes the 1st rounder from them so we end up with, say, a shutdown corner with the first 1st rounder and the consensus best OG in the draft falling naturally to us with the other one. Oakland not getting in vs them going into the playoff teams draft assignment cluster could be quite a swing in position in the immediate term.

btw, as one of the few who actually participated in the season prediction thread with a post whereby I was "trying to envision a narrative whereby they were still entertaining tiebreakers vs ratbirds @ PBS" I can't really say I'm amazed.

I've read somewhere (Thornton?) supposedly MFB was in love with the classic dropback statue Mallet & had to be talked out of him by someone (we'll assume it was the new OC always rumored to be in love with Dalton doing the talking), which allowed us to sit & wait for #14AD to come to us. W/O Green & Dalton & the schedule & Gruden & the lingering frustration of the gross spectacle that was TOcho last season & the 'continuity' of ML/Zimmer & even the lockout & a host of other factors causing all teams to scramble we're likely still typically mired in suck.

I don't really see either coordinator getting a head job next season either & with a full offseason to fully implement the new offense & continue Marvin's old school woodchopping attitude of the "NEW" Bengals we got us something real here. To my mind neither pissberg or ratbirds are really all that.
