& despite his reputation as an emotional troll, he was VERY complimentary of one Michael F Brown (probably the sole reason he ever got & held the job he did).

This doesn't really seem like any kind of forced ouster, but you never know ... it just seems like he sincerely wants to go back to his roots ... plus it's likely he may still be able to function as a part time 'scout' here (minus the PD duties). I guess we'll see who or what replaces him. Hopefully it's NOT Paul II.
