... with Gene, Gene the Dancing Machine and the Unknown Comic and Jaye! P.! Morgoooone! and all the rest. Chuck Barris developed/produced at least half of the truly shlocky afternoon game shows that had been seen on TV up until this ultimate one, the 'classic' Gong Show, from the mid-70s. America didn't quite know what to make of it then. it's big George Clooney (as producer) pet concept project that he got Julia Roberts and somebody else big to work for scale to do it for him.

do a search on Chuck Barris and/or The Gong Show and see what you get!
