Especially if you move out of there in the next 3 years. Even if you don't and it maxes on the first change, %6.125 isn't shabby at all....and you could live with %8.125 the next year.

I tried to talk Laura into a 5/1 ARM but she just wouldn't go for it. I figure that within the next 5 years we're going to have to do one of two things:

(1) move to another town for better school systems (people swear that the Portland schools are quite good, but...)
(2) stay in our house long term, send Andrew to private school and add on to the house.

Either way, we'd be looking at a new loan. Laura agreed but just didn't want to worry about the rate going up "just in case" we didn't refinance. Oh well.
