Subject: Salary Cap reporting

Why is it so damn hard for writers to give us a straight answer on where the Bengals stand under the salary cap?

I was reading the Enquirer today and they said..."ESPN.com reported new league-wide figures Tuesday that show the Bengals to be $8.1 million under the cap - the 10th most room in the NFL. Other estimates have the Bengals $5 million-$6 million under. The cap is estimated to be $75.1 million in 2003."

Meanwhile, Hobsoganda is reporting that the Bengals would have to cut players to sign TE Kelly or Brezinsky (spelling?) - ah hell - that guard from Philly.

I mean what, they can't just call the team and say excuse us for bothering you, but would you mind telling us how much cap room you have left? Is it some great secret? Or are the reporters just that damn lazy?
