Subject: Ok, so I'm turning it in late

Finally home after a detour here and there with more time to sit in front of the machine so here goes nothing...

Drove out to the Tiggapaloosa on Friday -- got into the area relatively late -- I expect around 8:30 or so PM local time and gave Coyotyl a call on the cell phone to pin down the location. Finally made my way there with the help of another call. Players had already left, but the party was jumping nonetheless.

Got several nice complements from Brainfry about how brilliant my posts are (gotta love that guy's taste) and how he looked forward to reading what Coy and BFNY and I had to say etc. Brilliant man that Brainfry.

I especially enjoyed meeting MadCat -- what a warm and loving human being -- he really looked out for me that weekend like a brother too and insisted I don his rather expensive authentic Bengal jersey for the party.

Coy was doing his cool, detached observer thing that he does so well, but finally got to sit down with him and Bg and London Bengal. Waldo blew me away with some very nice singing -- if Hootie ever goes down (ha what a pun) the Blowfish need to call Waldo.

Had a good time making a fool of myself singing -- got lucky on my first tune -- it was in a key I could handle and sounded half way decent, but after that was a struggle lol

Finally talked Coy into a game of chess and had a nice time getting a little diabolical with the Black Knight against him and London Bengal and then once again vs. Coyotyl.

I'd have loved a shot at silencing Bg, but he wussed out a bit on the early side. I'd say the trademark Bg arrogance definitely cost him against LB from what I saw, I might add.

I'm concerned about LB by the way -- his brother was asking about him and I haven't seen him since he parted company in the company of a rather healthy looking young lass late Sunday night. Any updates?

Saturday I went shopping for some Bengal togs -- the old table muscle has developed over the years to where some of my older stuff didn't fit so well. Spent a good deal of time with MadCat doing that, then hung out at a Sports Bar with the guys watching Ohio State squeak by Illinois -- thank God! Then went out and attempted singing with a rather hoarse voice in a very smoky place. My eyes were burning from the sheer quantity I tell you and I had to keep ducking outside for fresh air, but it was a lot of fun. Gordon Lightfoot and Journey don't have much to fear from my renditions of their hits, but it was a blast singing them and giving the Browns fans there a bit of a hard time.

Finally went home exhausted to rest up for the game around 2 Am or so. Made it down to the tail gate around 10:30 I think -- had a great time meeting more guys then went into the game. Bought a stuffed Dawg pound dawg to torture during the game which was some release because the refs hosed us big time -- there had to wank on that. After game we took out frustrations on the stuffed dawg using the radio controlled Bengal Assault humvee.

Cattin (what a flirt) really seemed to love digging her claws into the poor Dawg I should add. I think he will make a perfect voodoo doll when I get some nice long needles.

Bengalfanforever and I were saying how much we wished our third head was there a lot so we could go take on the Cerberus dawg. Suzi was missed too of course -- several guys said they would love to meet her -- how could they not?

After the game Coy, MadCat, LB and I went over to Rick's and happened to run into Chad Johnson who was obviously rather crestfallen at the loss, but was polite when we said hi and nice game etc. The food was excellent, but Coy (after buying me drinks all weekend) wouldn't let me treat him to a real meal -- the bastard!

After we ate we went over to the Sports bar from the previous night and got to meet the players.

Glen Steele was very nice -- a working class kind of guy all the way who approved much of me drinking Jack and Cokes and wanted to do a shot of Jack with all of us. O Dwyer is definitely a hot head type -- I can picture him as the high school kid who locked the school nerd in his own locker.
He seemed to have a strong desire to sulk and occasionally hit on babes so I gave him his space.

Braham was quiet and being around fans didn't strike me as being his thing either. I think he was just doing Steele a favor by being there. Goff seemed like a very down to earth, nice kid, said he didn't know he had any fans, etc.

Definitely a great experience for a fan to meet these guys and see what they were like in person though. They are some big boys of course, but not as huge as I pictured in my mind's eye. OF course I definitely would not want to piss off O' Dwyer.

The next day I spent recovering and resting up. Gave Coy a call around noon when I finally rose from the dead and made sure he made it home to Lexington ok. I'm not used to partying like that needless to say, so I really needed some sleep. I intended to call Coy back after lunch before I left town, but I ended up going back to room and feeling so tired I took another nap. When I finally woke up, I figured I might as well stay the night, so I decided to go out and see my childhood homes and schools.

Wow! Huge changes. Old bowling alley I used to go to was totally gone! Another one was still there and looking like the day I left. One old house is now a realty company -- walkway I helped my grandpa build is still there as is the stone planter we made. Huge old oak tree was cut down and the garage was gone! House had vinyl siding and I didn't even recognize it when I drove by the first time. Neighbor's house totally unchanged. It was a bit sad for me being there and feeling those old memories.

Other old house was still there (to my shock). It was in Silverton which during the 60s went from working class white to black over night. (Home of Barry Larkin and Roger Staubach by the way) Evidently the neighborhood has swung back to being white. I saw an older white woman walking all by herself around 10:30 PM and several other whites on the street. Back when I lived there, white people were getting mugged in the street in broad daylight so it was a total shock to see that, but rather cool.

The old house was ready to fall down when my dad sold it (really poor renters trashed place) but the new owners have fixed it up very nicely and put new siding on it. It was a tiny frame house that was very tall and narrow, so very neat to see it and say "No it wasn't your imagination, it had to be really steep going up those stairs to the dorm/attic room I slept in.

Of course while there I also had the chance to eat some of my old favorite stuff I can't get

Frisch's Big Boy sandwich, ( tartar sauce instead of that Shoney's stuff) their fantastic fish sandwich (once again with that great sauce) and the onion rings.

United Dairy Farmer chocolate shake ( yeah buddy! I miss those!)

And inspired by Bg's grab assing on the karaoke host while dancing with Cattin I just had to get myself a nice Cincy Threeway!

Finally got back home late last night after a few more detours on the way, including looking at some video games for sale and some trucks and busses. Fun to get to shop like that :-) I posted from St. Louis library yesterday but didn't get much chance to tell all. Damn I hate that pic Gary took btw. I look a million years old in it. One place where I got grey hair and it has to hang out -- oh well at least he didn't use the one he took of me stuffing my face. lol

All in all, a fantastic weekend -- can we do it again soon?
