A search turned up this page which might or might not prove useful, but it does have some interesting information on it. Here you'll find some general info on coffee, interesting stuff about the plants, and if you scroll down far enough, you even find out about how many chromosomes Coffea arabica has (44) and sizes for different varieties. Based on what I've found, it seems the size depends mostly on the variety (Kona grows 3'-8'). Do you know what variety you have? Also, keeping it in a pot will undoubtedly serve to keep it smaller, you could root prune it if needed. I hope this helps, but if not that you at least find the site interesting. If yours looks to be getting too large, you can propagate a cutting in soil and start a new one.
