I'd like to find out some stuff myself. But Sally Field was Gidget on the TV series. Ms. Watson did star as Tammy--based on the 1950's movies--for a single season in 1965 (same year as Gidget) after the cancellation of Karen. Other stars included George Furth, Denver Pyle, Frank McGrath and Gloria Marshall, who played Tammy's snobby rival.
