Man dies four months after attack

A man injured in an assault and arson attack at a house in Belfast last December has died in hospital.
Noel McCombe, who was in his 50s, had sustained severe head injuries in the attack at Ireton Street, off Botanic Avenue, on Boxing Day.

Three men appeared in court days later, charged with attempted murder. Police say they are now reviewing the charge.

Detectives found Mr McCombe had been seriously assaulted in the house before it was set on fire.

A police spokesman said at the time that it appeared a mattress and rubbish had been set alight.

A woman who was in the house was treated for smoke inhalation.
